I am a vegetarian living in Philly. Most people don't know that Philadelphia is home to the largest city park on the planet, Fairmont Park. I recently started exploring the park in search of wild food. You only have to walk a few yards in almost any part of the park to see that there are many times more acorns that the local squirrels can gather. So I have replaced store bought gritts with Native American style acorn soup. It's healthier than gritts, and cooking instructions are easy to find all over the internet. I have replaced store bought collard greens with dandalion greens. I'll be looking into berries and walnuts next. I'll let you know what I find.

‎"Why should there be hunger and deprivation in any land, in any city, at any table, when man has the resources and the scientific know-how to provide all mankind with the basic necessities of life?"
~Martin Luther King, Jr.
