Congressmen Tom Periello
Last October Congress passed a law that requires congress to approve the Veterans administration budget one fiscal year in advance.
In the past 25 years congress has been late approving the V.A. budget 21 out of 25 times.
H.R. 4667, the Veterans Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2010 will increase the rate of compensation for disabled veterans and their survivors and dependents to keep pace with the rising cost-of-living.
Our disabled veterans depend on these tax-free payments not only to provide for their own basic needs, but for those of their spouses, children and parents as well. Without an annual cost-of-living increase, these veterans and their families would see the value of their hard-earned benefits slowly erode. Congress would be derelict in our duty if we failed to guarantee that those who sacrificed so much for this country receive benefits and services that fail to keep pace with their needs.”
